801/802 Syllabus

Welcome to Curriculum Night

Dear parents and guardians,

I feel that communication between home and school is extremely important, and that we can improve the educational process by working together. Since most students have not yet mastered the skills to become totally responsible for their learning, I believe that you and I can help students reach this goal. This can be accomplished by giving encouragement, support, and assistance.

Pass-Log Assignment Notebook

Each day students should copy from the board the class activity and the assignment for the day. If you forget the assignment you can always check with a classmate, check the homework hotline, or check my website.

Daily Work

Parents are encouraged to review the actual assigned work before and/or after it is turned in. There will be homework almost every night. All assignments can be corrected and turned in to earn more credit. Corrections must be turned in before we take a test on that chapter. Parents can also reinforce the importance of math by talking with their child about a variety of skills, concepts (taxes, interest, tips, mph, probability, area, recipes, measurements, etc.)

Help

I am generally available for help both before and after school. Students often come in during lunchtime as well. I will schedule a time for review before major quizzes or tests.

Grading System

Report card grades are based on the following grading scale:

A 90-100 Grades are based on: Test/Quiz 70%
B 80-89 Homework 30%
C 70-79
D 60-69
U 59 and below

* I welcome your suggestions and comments, and I look forward to working with you this year.

Thanks, Mr. Haus
